Both internal and external communication is key to achieving successful international, multidisciplinary research, development and innovation (RD&I) through to the launch of products. Communication with potential customers and other stakeholders should be an initial step in RD&I planning and continued communication enables more focussed results and preparation for market launch of products.
RD&I Communication includes to:
- Define communication goals and objectives
- Define the measurement of the achievement of objectives
- Establish and maintain efficient internal communication structures and methods
- Define target audiences
- Build-up contact to target audiences
- Determine with project partners which information is suitable for communication through dissemination
- Define messages to target audiences
- Define the medium and means to reach target audiences
- Lead and/or contribute to peer reviewed publications; conferences and workshops; articles in publications; guidelines/protocols; press releases; and other accompanying communication/dissemination materials e.g. posters, brochures and flyers
- Develop relationships with members of the target audiences
- Develop structures and contents for project websites
- Develop content for social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Vimeo, Periscope)
- Implement and update project website and social media platforms’ content
- Public and societal engagement
- Organise open research data
