Both internal and external communication is key to achieving successful international, multidisciplinary research, development and innovation (RD&I) through to the launch of products. Communication with potential customers and other stakeholders should be an initial step in RD&I planning and continued communication enables more focussed results and preparation for market launch of products.

RD&I Communication includes to:

  • Define communication goals and objectives
  • Define the measurement of the achievement of objectives
  • Establish and maintain efficient internal communication structures and methods
  • Define target audiences
  • Build-up contact to target audiences
  • Determine with project partners which information is suitable for communication through dissemination
  • Define messages to target audiences
  • Define the medium and means to reach target audiences
  • Lead and/or contribute to peer reviewed publications; conferences and workshops; articles in publications; guidelines/protocols; press releases; and other accompanying communication/dissemination materials e.g. posters, brochures and flyers
  • Develop relationships with members of the target audiences
  • Develop structures and contents for project websites
  • Develop content for social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Vimeo, Periscope)
  • Implement and update project website and social media platforms’ content
  • Public and societal engagement
  • Organise open research data
